About the Program
The Knauf Australia Plastering Program targets skilled plasterers outside of Australia to join the new build residential supply and install business, Knauf Linings. The program aims to select experienced plasterers to relocate to Australia and complete a program that upskills them to Australian plastering standards.
Successful applicants will join a plastering crew and together start their adventure to Australia. The crew will be supported in their relocation to Australia and will join in the short term without their families (where available, families will also be supported to relocate to Australia in the long term).
Successful applicants joining the program will be upskilled to complete all aspects of plastering Australian residential houses and work towards full knowledge of Australian standards. This includes fixing, setting and cornicing a residential house plus learning how to perform individual maintenance activities.
A company vehicle will be provided to each crew for work and the crew will be upskilled by a qualified Knauf Linings plasterer. Crews will complete the upskilling program whilst working on new residential houses in Brisbane, Australia and will be required to show satisfactory plastering skills before working independently. Once the program is complete, crews may be relocated around Australia to work in other locations.
About the Work
Throughout the Knauf Australia Plastering Program, you will undertake many plastering duties including
- Determining plasterboard layout
- Measuring, marking, cutting, lifting and positioning plasterboard and securing them to walls, ceilings and battens
- Preparing corner beads and securing them in position
- Fixing plaster and paper cornices, panel moldings, ceiling centres and other plaster fittings
- Covering joints and screw fittings with wet plaster and sealing compounds and smoothing them using wet brushes and sandpaper
- Mixing and applying coats of plaster, cement and render to structures using trowels and levelling and smoothing coats to uniform thickness
- Plumbing and straightening corners, angles and wall ceiling surfaces
- Creating decorative textures in finishing coats
- Applying and finishing acoustic, insulating and fireproofing materials
